About the role: 

Reporting to, and partnering directly with, the Chief Technology Officer, Droit’s VP of Engineering will be instrumental in driving Droit’s technical vision forward as we scale. You’ll oversee and manage a team of global engineers to innovate with purpose and build products for a sophisticated and demanding market. In this management role, you’ll provide not only technical leadership, but will serve as a coach and advocate for both junior and senior team members.

What you’ll do in this role:  

  • Lead an enterprise-level, full-stack, engineering team of 15-20 Software Engineers, operating in an agile environment. 
  • Enact a strategic plan for developing and empowering talent with processes that result in optimal production quality and development efficiency.  
  • Lead all software development (planning, architecture, implementation), QA and operations to create robust, reliable and scalable platform-based solutions that deliver against an ambitious product roadmap across a demanding client base of large financial institutions. 
  • Collaborate with product, marketing, and finance teams to align business and strategic goals with technology driven initiatives.  
  • Promote and evolve UX/UI-driven technology and processes within the firm, working to deliver modern software solutions.  
  • Advise on functional requirements for the deployment of productized technology for client engagements. 
  • Build, mentor, and develop a high performing team. 

What we are looking for: 

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Security, Information Systems, or an equivalent technical field. 
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in software engineering, including experience managing development of enterprise-grade software products.  
  • Proven track record leading and managing a team of engineers for a multi-tenant SaaS platform.  
  • Experience with Functional Programming languages, such as Clojure. 
  • Significant experience with UI/UX design and usability, and knowledge of UI/UX frameworks, such as React. 
  • Significant experience with AWS ecosystem for SaaS product development.
  • Ability to integrate third-party web services, build and consume JSON and REST APIs into third-party platforms. 
  • Proven experience and success developing and scaling agile development methodology across an organization that is early in its journey. 
  • Proven experience leading and effectively managing strategic technology initiatives while building on existing business critical platforms that also require development.
  • Aptitude in assessing and implementing leading software architecture and design patterns.
  • A high-level understanding of the technical architecture of complex and highly scalable cloud-based applications. 
  • The ability to balance the needs of internal stakeholders with business needs, end user needs and the company’s timeline for project completion. 
  • The ability to determine and produce a minimally viable product and then continually iterate and improve.
