Senior Backend Developer (TypeScript, Node.js)
ForMore is on a mission to revolutionise how we save for the long term. We believe that legacy solutions are expensive, the language often complex, the charges obfuscated and the digital experiences dated and clumsy.
New solutions to long-term saving tend to be focused on the first-time investor and heavily biased toward trading, as opposed to saving for the long term. We need better software to help consumers achieve their life goals, not to be sold financial products.
We are pre-product but full of vision. We have kicked off our customer development work refining our initial target customer hypothesis and digging into their unmet needs and motivations. We're working on a brand that speaks for us and our core values, and we're using that to create a design system and build our first product and website. We work as a lean, agile team, testing our ideas quickly and cheaply, iterating to keep heading for the best solutions for our users.
Our founders are Nick Perrett, CEO and Ricky Knox, Chairman. Between the two, Nick and Ricky have raised over half a billion 💵 for businesses they have been involved in. They have assembled an incredible set of angel investors in ForMore who have co-founded leading financial services businesses, such as Capital One, with a cumulative exit value of well over a billion 💵.

Experienced in tech
- You write production-ready code that is well tested, easy to follow and maintain
- You identify and deal with edge and error cases
- You use tests to prove out solutions, provide a shield against regressions and a way into the code for other developers
- You make good architectural decisions aligned with the service architecture already in place
- You’re able to identify and mitigate against potential security vulnerabilities
Delivery focused
- You help identify and break up work into right-sized tasks for you and colleagues working on the same feature
- You help with prioritisation and estimation of work
- You’re able to work autonomously but communicate well with the team to overcome challenges and uncertainty when needed
Collaborative
- You’re a good communicator, able to write well, document your work and share knowledge with others
- You’re a mentor to others when needed and you’re happy to pair and learn from them too
- You help others to get over blockers and get their work over the line
- You’re able to discuss options and voice your opinions in a respectful way. You give others a chance to speak and voice theirs.
- You think about working processes and are engaged in helping the team to improve how we work together

Interview Process
- A brief screening call to make sure there's a good fit for both of us before taking up more of your time. We can do this without video, to make it more comfortable and to eliminate biases on our side.
- An hour long interview where we'll examine the tech skills and ways of working together that we're looking for. A chance for you to ask us questions you have.
- An opportunity to meet more of the team you'll be working with before final decisions are made.
